Basic Info
Name:Rui Yamase (山瀬ルイ)
Birthdate:09-19
Bio
Player's Name: Rune
AIM/email/other contact info: AIM: ItsRainingChairs
Personal LJ: (if applicable) blinkingrune

Character: Rui Yamase
Series: Lux-Pain
Version: Post-game
Age: 18
Gender: Female

Appearance: Rui Yamase has blonde hair that she wears in curls, slightly tan skin, and clear, emerald-hued eyes. She’s of an average height and build for her age; around 5’5” or 5’6”, not freakishly skinny. She loves adding flair her to outfits. She has a heart badge for her school uniform’s tie, a few charms she hangs from her jacket, and a pair of red reading glasses. When not wearing her school uniform or while it’s raining, she also has a yellow rain jacket that she adores.

Personality: At first glance, Rui is just a normal teenage girl. She’s perky, and she really likes to liven things up when they’re feeling down. Her favorite things are make-up, shopping, gossiping, and hanging out with her friends. She likes unusual things from time to time, but she’s really just out so she can have a good time. She wasn’t always like that, though. She was considered a “terror” growing up because she would bite, kick, and scream to get her way. She loved being the center of attention, and even her friends were afraid of her until she calmed down in middle school.

Despite how well she grew up, outgrowing her negative traits, they still surface from time to time. She’s not afraid to cross her arms, turn to a guy, and yell “I’m going to kick you!.” She’s not afraid to follow through with it, either. She’ll get right in your face and tell you what her problem is. She also has a tendency to break down when life gets tough. When her sister’s best friend dies, she practically locks herself up in her workplace and sleeps whenever customers aren’t around. She forgets to do even the simplest things. She’ll cry and let it all out if you’re someone she’s close to as well.

Fears: Rui is afraid of losing her family. Ever since her father died, she’s been living with her mother and her older sister (Yui Yamase). And then her sister’s partner died, and she had to deal with losing her as well (Mako). She’s also afraid of people who are after her fortune-telling abilities. They force her to say what they want to hear or they try to threaten her. At one point, for being a psychic, she was told she was a monster and almost fired upon. She’s also afraid of foreseeing death.

Weaknesses: Rui will protect others before herself when it comes down to it, since she considers herself to be a strong person. When she’s really scared, though, she’ll just hide instead of facing it directly. Being an eighteen year old girl, she’s obviously not the fastest or strongest person in the house.

Strengths/Abilities: Rui is a psychic, and by placing her hand over someone’s heart she can get a 100% accurate reading of their future. Sometimes the images are vague, sometimes they’re very clear. As far as physically fighting goes, she’s not afraid to back down and defend herself unless she’s faced with a gun or emotionally distraught.

History: Rui’s life was relatively normal in the beginning…aside from being a psychic. She had a good group of high school friends; Mika, the reporter; Akira, the bushido expert; Shinji, the hacker; and Yayoi, the artist. Her father died when she was in second grade, but she moved past that. While in high school, she moved into her office, “Company F,” where she became famous for her 100% accurate fortune telling abilities.

Things started to change when Saijo came to town, though. Unbeknownst to Rui, Saijo was investigating Silent, a disease that causes people to commit crimes. Prior to his arrival, group suicide had occurred an the entire town was in a buzz over it. Saijo was quickly befriended by Rui, who later introduced him to her friends. She also told Saijo’s fortune, but only saw glimpses of his past thanks to the force inside of him that allowed him to kill Silent. That’s when the strange events really started to pick up, though. A stabber re-emerged from a year earlier, stabbing Sayuri Makino and later, also fatally, Rui’s sister’s partner on the force, Mako.

Shortly after, the Silent in Yayoi and her art teacher, Arthur, led them both dangerously close to committing suicide. Shortly after, this sent Rui into a depression where she considered suicide herself, not under the influence of Silent. Yayoi talked her out of it, though. Still in her depression, though, she missed out on several key events of the story because of the isolation she sought in her office. She did end up visiting the others in the hospital, and she even was hospitalized herself for exhaustion after a teacher infected with Silent holds a group of students hostage and calls Rui a monster. He even tries to shoot her.

Towards the end of the game, she starts looking for a young boy that no one in town has ever seen before. She manages to find him, and the young boy saves her from a thug who threatens her in Company F. It turns out that the boy was created from Saijo after Rui told his fortune, and that Saijo had been seeing visions that the boy version saw himself. After Rui is saved, the young Saijo merges with the old Saijo and Rui hides away in a mansion as the government comes to deal with an angry mob bent on killing Rui and the other town psychic.

In the end, Saijo manages to dispel the Silent and the town returns to normal…but those he interacted with have their memories erased, Rui included. One day, however, she was trying to remember something and found the charm Saijo had given her for her birthday. She remembered Saijo after that, and she ran through town trying to find him. In the end, she discovered he had already moved onto the next city, but she had one last chance to reminisce about him…because her psychic abilities also reminded everyone close to Rui about Saijo.

Rui Yamase tapped her feet as she waited in the hallway. Occasionally, her gaze would dart down the hall to her left, then to her right, and then her left one more time, just as if she was a child crossing the street. She sighed softly after catching herself doing it for the...who really knew?...nth time. It was one thing being in this house. One very...unnerving and scary thing, but being in it alone? That was even more unnerving. Especially when the blonde psychic found herself waiting for someone in the hall. Every sound made her think he was coming, and she had to fight every urge to try and find somewhere a bit safer.

"Honestly...," she muttered to herself as she moved a strand of blonde, curled hair out of her face. "How long is he going to take? I told him I'd be waiting here..." Rui started to tap her foot on the ground. It wasn't long before she started idly humming to herself, trying to create a bit of a melody to distract her from constantly looking to her left and right. This whole situation reminded her of that abandoned building back in Kisaragi...waiting and listening for any sign of humanity, watching the soldiers running by...she had to force her eyes shut at that thought. It had been the worst part of her life. She had lost a teacher, an acquaintance, a close friend, and....Saijo.

She shook her head to snap herself out of it, only briefly removing her trademark red reading glasses so she could wipe a few stray tears from her eyes before promptly putting them back on. "That's it," she said as she crossed her arms. She glared down the hallway left of her, down the hallway to her right, and down the hallway to her left again. "That's it, that's it! I'm going to kick him the moment he gets back!"
